KY Palisades Passive House

Kentucky's first Passive House residence, will require 90% less energy for heating and cooling than a typical home of the same size, and with the addition of a grid intertied photovoltaic system (PV's or solar electric panels) to the roof, this house will net zero out its energy use over the course of the year, and perhaps even produce excess electricity.

This house is built up on columns because it is built on the flood-plane of the Kentucky River Palisades and must be at a certain level to meet local building codes. There is a deck to the east of the house facing the Palisades and a bridge to the west leading out to the road. Parking and a covered entertainment area are on the lower level, with easy access to stepped terraces to the south, where there's a hot tub and another amazing view of the palisades.
